North Carolina elections in 2027 and 2028

North Carolina's primary falls on the Tuesday after the first Monday in March, which is March 7, 2028, Super Tuesday. Sen. Ted Budd's Class 3 seat and the governor's office are both on the November 2028 ballot. In 2027, Charlotte elects a new mayor: Mayor Vi Lyles resigned in 2026 and the interim mayor is not running. AdImpact projected more than $500 million in North Carolina political ad spending for the 2026 cycle.

What field programs in North Carolina need to know

North Carolina voter registration drives must get completed forms to the county no later than 25 days before an election, may not keep or alter forms, and may not use quotas or pay per form, according to the State Board of Elections. In March 2026 the State Board also paused supplying registration forms to drive organizers, so plan your materials early. North Carolina has no citizen-initiated ballot measures. Charlotte and Raleigh-Durham are the state's two largest media markets, both in the national top 25.
